Covid-19 Update - Rambert School

Covid-19 Update

The welfare, health and safety of our students, alongside that of our school community is our highest priority.

We continue to deliver excellent teaching with a balance between deep learning of core techniques and an enriched student experience using a mixed-mode approach.  The timetable has been adapted so that students attend school in small groups for daily ballet and contemporary dance technique classes. Improvisation and Gaga classes currently take place online as do critical studies lectures and seminars.

Find out more about our new staff and Fresh Friday guest teachers who are enhancing our teaching faculty and enabling us to facilitate small class sizes.

We are working hard to keep students and staff up to date with the latest guidance and internal protocols. As a small community of less than 200 students and staff we are able to keep track of students’ health and importantly to support any who are required to isolate or seek tests if symptoms present or contact with a case is suspected.

We are in contact with Richmond Borough Directors of Public Health, and have shared our Outbreak plan with them. You can download a copy of this detailed plan HERE.

To keep our full-time students and staff as safe as possible, our building remains closed to the general public, unless agreed for specific purposes on an individual basis. In these instances visitors must adhere to the protocols in place.

Our community classes are currently paused and this will be reviewed before the end of the calendar year. Our pre-vocational programme is being delivered online at this time.

  • The Normansfield Theatre
  • Ballet dancer at ballet barre wearing blue leotard and mask
  • Health questionnaires completed in advance to track student and staff symptoms
  • Temperature and blood oxygen screening on arrival
  • Face masks are worn by staff and students in all areas of the school including in class
  • Students in small class bubbles of no more than 14 for face-to-face teaching
  • Organising the timetable to limit the numbers of students and staff needing to be at school at any one time
  • Staff are supported to work from home where possible
  • Controlling the way that facilities are physically accessed
  • Appropriate social distancing
  • Enhanced cleaning measures

We are taking a range of steps to provide care and support to any of our students who test positive or who need to self-isolate to ensure that:

  • They are contacted with advice and support with reference to self-isolation
  • They understand government guidance and are able to seek medical advice from a local GP if required
  • They are encouraged to contact a member of the dedicated Student Support team if they need help or are unsure about any of the advice they have been given
  • They have access to food, medicines, laundry and other essentials
  • They are able to access a range of student support and well-being services
  • They are reassured that an absence due to self-isolating will not affect overall attendance
  • Those who are able, can to continue to engage with their studies via remote learning
