BBC Young Dancer | Robert Dunkley-Gyimah

Rambert School is extremely proud to have four students in the BBC Young Dancer 2022 finals, which is due to broadcast on BBC 3 this Saturday. In the coming days we’ll be sharing a little insight of Robert, Anna, Elisabeth and Hannah’s experiences on the show and what they’ll be taking away from the competition.

Introducing the first of our finalists, second year student, Robert Dunkley-Gyimah.

Describing the process Robert says “It’s just been an amazing experience from start to finish. I auditioned not knowing what I wanted to get from the process but I haven’t been disappointed. I think I’ve developed more as a person and an artist from the challenges faced on this journey.”

Even the hurdles of the final being postponed didn’t bother him as he says “I think the final being postponed was actually quite useful because it gave me time to mature choreographically and especially physically from the technical training at Rambert School and the lessons taught to me over the last 6 months of this journey.”

Robert’s favourite thing about BBC Young Dancer has been “…working within different disciplines has been really eye opening and it’s such a pleasure to work with all the crew, choreographers and other artists. I hope my growth and passion has been reflected in my BBC Young Dancer experience and I’m excited to see what’s next for me on my path of growth and artistry”
