Thick & Tight, Commissioned Choreographers 22/23

We’re excited to introduce another of our 22/23 commissioned choreographers, who are in fact alumni of Rambert School. Thick & Tight are a queer dance theatre company established in 2012 by Daniel Hay-Gordon and Eleanor Perry. They create, curate and facilitate work for stage, screen and other spaces, using dance, lip-syncing, mime, drag and satire. Their work investigates a range of queer and intersectional issues and figures, drawing on historical, political, literary and artistic subjects.

Thick & Tight are continually developing new ways to transform their in-depth research and learning into dance theatre which is insightful, exacting, accessible and entertaining. They want their work to offer new ways to perceive and connect, using creativity to challenge and dispel social stigma. The pair have shown work at venues including Sadler’s Wells and Barbican Centre as part of London International Mime Festival, Lowry, Southbank, Royal OperaHouse, Aldeburgh Music Festival, Tate, Kings Place and Wilton’s Music Hall, as well as in queer nightlife venues, social clubs, family festivals and charity fundraisers. Thick & Tight have an ongoing partnership with Corali Dance Company, dance artists with a learning disability, and are associates of The Lowry and The Albany.

It’s such a treat to have them back in the building creating a new piece, so watch this space.
