Student-led: Cortex

In honour of International Dance Day, we’re excited to give an insight into another the student-led initiative, Cortex.

Cortex is an improvisation space established by student Spike King in 2022. It was created to provide the opportunity for all three year groups of the school to dance together and share ideas. The name Cortex came from the information processing centre in the brain.

The space has grown to become a hub within the school community for experimenting and researching new movement ideas. It has had a hugely positive impact on the creative process for the student choreographic PLATFORM, that audiences can see in May – tickets on sale now.
