Sean started his performance career at an early stage in his life with The National Youth Music Theatre’s production of Bugsy Malone at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the London Hammersmith Apollo. He was lucky to gain a role in the UK touring production of Scrooge the Musical starring Anthony Newly. He then studied at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, graduating with a BA Hons in Performance. He went on to tour with postgraduate company Verve 05 before going on to tour as a principal dancer and rehearsal director with 2007 Culture award-winning Sakoba Dance Theatre. He has had an extensive career in the West End, including Fame, the musical. After a successful run, Sean was asked to play the lead role Tyrone for the European tour.
As well as performing in musical theatre, Sean toured internationally within dance, including dancing for recording artists Sophie Ellis Bextor and Elton John. Sean featured in the film Gulliver’ Travels as a dancer staring Jack Black and Emily Blunt.
After performing, Sean pursued a career in choreographing musicals and dance works including ITV’s celebration of Coronation Street’s 50th Anniversary working alongside Arlene Phillips, Katherin Kelly and Kym Marsh.
Sean has a vast reputation within youth dance. He has led and produced many dance pieces for youth platforms including One Dance UK’s U.Dance, Rambert Elements, MOVE IT and Can You Dance. Alongside this, Sean successfully ran one of Yorkshires biggest youth theatre companies Heavy Arts Theatre, founded High Storrs Dance Company and Boys DiME, a company of secondary school boys across the north of England. He has successfully led dance departments for secondary and FE education holding the best results in GCSE and A Level Dance for 5 years, as well as teaching as a freelance artist in universities all over the UK.
Sean is proud to be part of the governing body of the award-winning dance organisation Yorkshire Dance and on the dance teacher’s advocacy panel for One Dance Uk.
