Spotlight on inclusive practice week: Club Night DIY with Fraser Buchanan
8th February 2023
Starting our spotlight on inclusive practice week with a bang, Fraser Buchanan’s ‘Club Night: DIY’ session was a workshop (in-progress) for the students to design their very own, fantasy nightlife event or party. It encompassed discussions about queer spaces and nightlife; history, influence, contexts and significance, as well as watching, reading and taking part in creative/improv tasks in a relaxed space.
“Queer nightlife is filled with pedagogies of the body, ways to use our bodies to ends that the rest of the world doesn’t want us to, ways that make us feel in excess, ways that unmake respectability, ways that make the world anew” – Kareem Khubchadnani, 2022.
Fraser is an independent queer dance artist and creative producer. He trained at the The Rambert School and completed a Masters in Dance, History & Philosophy at the University of Roehampton, with distinction. Fraser has worked with Outbox Theatre, Malik Nashad Sharpe, Clod Ensemble amongst others.
