Rambert School in Botswana

Contemporary Dance Teacher, Jason Mabana was in Botswana last month. He and two of our third-year students, Eleanor McGrath and Dylan Jones, were conducting masterclasses in Gaborone, Botswana, as part of a grassroots initiative, in partnership with the Mophato Dance Theatre and the Mafitlhakgo Traditional Dance Group. The aim of this exciting project was to foster and nurture dancing skills amongst the different groups in Gaborone.

The masterclasses were part of a partnership with the Mophato Dance Theatre that will bring cultural exchanges and skills transfer between students from the Mophato Dance Theatre, the Mafitlhakgo Traditional Dance Group and Rambert School. We look forward to welcoming Andre Kotla, Founder and Creative Director of Mophato Dance Theatre as a guest teacher later in the year where he will be teaching traditional elements of Botswana traditional dance to our students.

This partnership between Rambert School and Mophato Dance Theatre and the Mafitlhakgo Traditional Dance Group has been made possible with the support of the De Beers Group.
