HEAD OF MUSIC HEADS TO CHINA FOR NEW PRODUCTION OF ‘THE TEMPEST’

Barry Ganberg, Head of Music, travelled to China in July to take part in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Chinese cultural exchange. The programme features Chinese language productions of Twelfth Night, Hamlet and The Tempest. Barry has composed a new score for the latter, which is directed by British director Tom Supple, and will be performed by the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing from August 9-15. Of the composition, Barry says “we explore strange and rarely heard music, leaving behind musical clichés that are traditionally expected.
