Fresh Fridays with Hannah Ekholm

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Hannah Ekholm to our Fresh Friday workshops. Hannah is a Swedish dancer and choreographer based in London. As a dancer she has worked in both theatre and commercial spaces, working with artists and companies such as Raye, Lacoste, Didy Veldman, Natalia Osipova, Daniel Avery, Calvin Harris, Gareth Pugh, Alexander Whitley Dance Company, Sam Smith, Rambert and many more.

As a choreographer she has worked with artists and brands such as La Roux, NIKE, Tinie Tempah, Floating Points, Joy Crookes, Huawei and Grey Goose. Hannah is the Co-Artistic Director of ekleido, with their work performed in multiple venues and festivals, some including  Breakin’ Convention at Sadler’s Wells, Glastonbury, Latitude and The Place. Her own work Stimuli premiered at Resolution Dance Festival, a multidisciplinary work including live music and dance. Hannah is also a New Way Voguer part of the international vogue house ELLE,  she has walked and judged balls internationally as well as hosting her own ball in London.

Hannah said: “I was excited to see how quickly each of the students was able to pick up a new style and begin to add their own flavour and personality to it. They all have incredible technique, and it was just a pleasure to see them utilise it in a new way. There was a great supportive energy in the room which allowed for everyone to try out ideas enthusiastically, without hesitation. This was amazing to see as often people can feel intimidated by having to freestyle in front of each other, especially in a style their unfamiliar with.”
