Fresh Friday with Thomas Page

13th May 2022

Fresh Friday with Thomas Page
Our second and third year students are ready to enjoy another brilliant Fresh Friday workshop. This week hosted by Thomas Page (he/they) who is an independent dance artist based in Oxford and Artistic Director of Thomas Page Dances (TPD).

Thomas is currently undertaking their masters with us at Rambert School, Thomas is also an Associate Artist of Swindon Dance, The Old Fire Station Theatre, and a recent SPARK Artist in Residence at The Pegasus Theatre. Using choreography as a form of aesthetic activism and the universality of dance as a language seeking to create connections between people who are often separated by very specific ideas, beliefs or experiences. This practice is seen both in Thomas’ work with their professional company and youth company, TPD Young Artists.

Their Fresh Friday workshop will focus on using spinal articulation and gestural play as a physical theme and looks at ownership, indulgence, and an individual approach to movement. Later Thomas is also hosting a workshop for the MA students where they will focus on movement and discuss the idea of choreographing utopia and how the needs of a dance artist can shape the future of dance. As a current student of our MA in Dance Research course, we’re thrilled to have them in the building, teaching our FD/BA students.
