Fresh Friday with Laure Bachelot
6th October 2023
Today our second and third years are looking forward to a Fresh Friday workshop with Laure Bachelot.
Laure is a French-born performer, teacher and Feldenkrais Practitioner. Her training at the London Contemporary Dance School ( 2002-2006) exposed her to improvisation and Physical Theatre which became the foundation of her journey as a performer and teacher. Laure is fascinated with the interplay relationship between the physical and emotional.
Throughout her career, she has worked with choreographers and directors who have shaped and shifted her never-ending passion for Performing Art, including; Thomas Mettler, Melly Still, Rick Nodine, Netia Jones, Filip Van Huffel, Simonetta Alessandri, Sara Black, Maxine Doyle, Jasmin Vardimon and Punchdrunk. For Punchdrunk Laure has created and performed several roles in The Drowned Man and was a member of the first company to be invited to restage Sleep No More in Shanghai. Since becoming a Feldenkrais Practitioner Laure integrates the method into her teaching to help creatives tap into their unexplored body to create, heal and thrive in their art.
Laure shared that “In this workshop, I wish the students to attend to themselves with curiosity, autonomy, kindness and playfulness. Offering them a space to explore their full physical and creative potential from the inside out.
We will start with an Awareness Through Movement® from the Feldenkrais Method® to slow down, connect and increase awareness. I will then lead the dancers through an improvisation encouraging them to listen in depth to their physical sensations to discover new possibilities. Layering the exploration with levels of effort, space and objectives, physical storytelling will emerge leading to choreographic composition.”
