The central objective of the degree is to develop and enhance the students’ ability to perform in Ballet and Contemporary Dance at a professional level. Therefore, irrespective of academic qualifications or prior learning experience, entry is subject to audition.
Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance welcomes applications from disabled people and offers places solely on the basis of potential and suitability for a career in the profession. You are encouraged to disclose any impairment or condition (for example, dyslexia, a physical, sensory or mental health condition) at the earliest opportunity so that we can endeavour to meet your needs at audition and during the course.
Applicants must have turned 16 years by 1st September in the year of entry.
Overseas students are required to achieve at least a Level B1 in one of the English testing systems recognised by the UKVI.
Students who are resident outside the UK may submit a digital audition with their application form via Vimeo/YouTube. For detailed instructions on submitting an acceptable digital audition, please see:
Rambert School Digital Auditions 2020.
Although we do not hold open days for the FD/BA (Hons) Degree course, you are welcome to book a tour of the building. On the tour you will see the facilities and learn about the course and be given information on being a Rambert School student. Please contact the School to arrange a visit, telephone 0208 892 9960 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Auditions for entry in September 2020 will be held from January – March 2020.
Entry to Rambert School for September 2020 is through a two-stage audition process. All applicants must download, fully complete and submit an application form and pay the £50 application fee.
All applicants meeting the entry criteria will be offered a first stage audition. We do try to accommodate a preferred audition date, but cannot guarantee this as auditions are offered on a first-come-first-serve basis to applicants meeting the entry requirements.
Auditionees will be advised if they have been successful at the first stage audition within 48 hours of the audition. Some auditionees will be invited back to a second stage audition, after which all final offers will be made. The decision of Rambert School is final.
First stage auditions will be a half-day process consisting of a 1-hour ballet class (with pointe work) and a 1-hour contemporary Dance session, with a creative task. Some applicants will be asked to perform a pre-prepared solo. Some will be given a physical check-up and interview.
Second stage auditions will take place on Friday 20th March and Monday 23rd March. The half-day process will consist of a ballet class (with pointe work) and a contemporary class, including creative work. Some applicants will be asked to perform a pre-prepared solo. Some will be given a physical check-up and interview. All applicants attending the final audition will advised if they have been successful, unsuccessful or placed on the reserve list no later than 27th March.
