We’ve picked out a few dance inspired events in and around London to help you the make of your bank holiday weekend.
This weekend might be the last bank holiday before boxing day, but and it’s a big but, there’s plenty to keep you busy this weekend with dance inspired events that come in so many different forms and cross so many genres. From classic to contemporary the real challenge will be fitting it all in.
Performances/Shows
Shechter Underground, Somerset House. Hofesh Shechter will present Shechter Underground, a site-responsive show that will lead audiences through the atmospheric maze-like underground tunnels and rooms beneath Somerset House. Details.
St Petersburg Ballet Theatre, Swan Lake. This production at the colleseum has had beautiful reviews and is part of the Society of London Theatre’s Kidsweek promotion if you’d like to take the whole family. Tickets
Nomad Cinema. The Greatest Showman is on at Victory Park, East village, for something a little less active but just as fun. Details
Events
South Bank Centre- Great Big Summer Weekend. A huge weekend of music, performance, dance and art and the best part is, it’s free. Details
NottingHill Carnival. The long running event returns for the bank holiday weekend bringing a flavour of the Caribbean to the capital. Alternatively the London Cabaret Club is hosting a Caribbean inspired night with Latin dancers for a party atmosphere but with less of the crowds.
Make more Festival, Victoria Park. This weekend boasts a huge line up of festivals across the country including Make More. This is a festival meets market kind of event in which you can try out all manner of workshops from Industry creatives. Read more.
