Commissioned Choreographers 2023/24: IMPERMANENCE
27th November 2023
We welcomed our next 2023/24 commissioned choreographers earlier this month, Rambert School alumni, Impermanence. Roseanna Anderson and Joshua Ben-Tovim have run IMPERMANENCE for over 10 years, collaborating with an incredible number of brilliant people on a range of critically acclaimed projects. They also perform elsewhere, having both finished a run in the West End this summer performing in Dr. Semmelweis. They are both graduates of the Rambert School and are now developing a venue for dance in Bristol where they are based.
Work for the STAGE includes:
VENUS (Bristol Old Vic, Wiltons Music Hall)
BAAL (Bristol Old Vic, The Place, Jakarta Theatre Platform)
SEXBOX (British Council Edinburgh Showcase)
DA DA DARLING (Listed as one of The Guardian’s top 10 dance productions)
THE MAJOR ARCANA (Mayfest, The Wardrobe Theatre)
IMPERMANENCE PRESENTS (short works, mostly dance, presented in a cabaret format at a range of venues featuring 26 artists since 2019 at Bristol Old Vic, Ugly Duck, Kings Weston House, Arnolfini)
Work for SCREEN includes:
LADY BLACKSHIRT (Bristol Old Vic Digital Stage, Sydney Opera House)
DECADE (an online gallery of 100 artists created throughout the pandemic, funded by Paul Mellon Centre)
EMPTY STAGE (commissioned by Birmingham Royal Ballet)
THE BALLET OF THE NATIONS (Best Art Film, New Renaissance Film Festival, Amsterdam)
FERAL (featuring George Monbiot and a recording by the London Symphony Orchestra)
BLAST (commissioned by BBC Arts)
PARK WANDERINGS (created during lockdown with Corali Dance Company, commissioned and exhibited by Southwark Park Galleries)
The team shared, “We are hugely excited to be working with the students at Rambert School, it feels like coming home. The spirit of the school feels really alive and the dancers are extraordinary in both their movement and generosity as creative people.”
