Commissioned Choreographer 2023/24: Robbie Ordona
19th September 2023
We are excited to welcome the first of our commissioned choreographers for 2023/24; Robbie Ordona.
Robbie is a Dancer and Choreographer from London. He started his professional training at The BRIT School then went on to train at LIPA. Robbie has worked as a dancer for choreographers like Akram Khan (Breathless Puppets) and Jason Mabana (Ina Ama), as well as being featured in the movie Everybody’s Talking about Jamie, and most recently touring internationally with Kate Prince’s Message in a Bottle.
Robbie has taught workshops across the UK and Europe. Sharing his unique style, that strives to create intricate, meaningful, and new movement matched with complex musicality inspired by both his Hip-Hop and Contemporary training. This is Robbie’s second piece of choreography for Rambert School, so we can’t wait to welcome him back.
In my time with the Rambert students I plan to challenge them in their musicality, character building and positional discipline within a piece. The piece my assistants and I are bringing to the students should also push them physically and mentally whilst also encouraging them to step out of their comfort zone, hopefully, providing a process that will help to prepare them for their future ventures in the industry.
Each time I have been asked to work with the Rambert students I come away inspired and refreshed from their hard-work ethic and drive to grow as artists. This is always the most rewarding part of working with the immensely talented young dancers and this makes me even more excited to see what we can do together.
