Ana Maria Lucaciu, Commissioned Choreographer 2022/23
3rd October 2022
Rambert School is excited to welcome the first of our 22/23 commissioned choreographers of the year to school this week, performing artist and choreographer, Ana Maria Lucaciu.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, Ana Maria graduated from the National Ballet School of Canada and joined Canada’s National Ballet immediately after. She went on to dance with the Royal Danish Ballet, Augsburg Ballet, The Portuguese Contemporary Dance Company and Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet in New York.
Lucaciu has performed and created works with contemporary dance’s foremost choreographers, including Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, Hofesh Shechter, Jiří Kylián, Alexander Ekman, Jo Stromgren, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and many others.
Ana Maria’s own choreographic work has been presented by the Norwegian National Ballet, New Dialect, SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, Terminus Modern Ballet Theater, Battery Dance NYC, and Philadelphia Ballet to name a few.
She assisted Crystal Pite on the Polaris project in New York city, is part of the Ballet Flansers rehearsal director teams and has most recently been assisting Swedish choreographer Alexander Ekman with new creations, and re staging his work around the world. After working with Rambert School, Ana will be joining Alan Lucien Øyen’s Winter Guests as rehearsal director and performer, for their 2022 tour.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the work she creates with our third year students.
