Monique JonasDancer, Artistic Director & Choreographer

Monique began dancing with the Chance to Dance programme before training at the Arts Educational Schools London in musical theatre and jazz dance. She completed her training at Rambert School. Upon graduating, Monique has worked with Rambert Dance Company-A Linha Curva and Garsington Opera, Sally Marie, Hubert Essakow, Kim Brandstrup, Arcade Fire, Theo Adams Company and Chris Thomas Dance to name a few. 

She joined Mathew Bourne’s New Adventures for the creation and UK tour of Romeo and Juliet. Alongside this Monique toured extensively with Richard Alston Dance Company, until their final performance in 2020. Monique has recently toured with Mathew Bourne’s New Adventures ‘Nutcracker!’ in 2021.

Monique founded her own dance company, Jona Dance and has been choreographing, movement directing, teaching and producing work both online and in-person, with the aim of amplifying silenced voices through contemporary dance in the UK. During the lockdown, Jona Dance collaborated with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and introduced a new charitable initiative hART for Humanity. Jona Dance launched video series SkIN-Deep in Autumn 2020 and short film CHECKMATE commissioned by New Adventures, premiered in December 2020.
