2022 Commissioned Choreographer Announcement: Darren Ellis

With our opening night of PRE[VIEW] fast approaching, we are excited to announce our penultimate choreographer, for 21/22, Darren Ellis.

Darren Ellis trained at Rambert School (1987-90), and post graduation, has danced for many different companies including Wayne McGregor/Random Dance, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, Mark Bruce Dance company and most recently Richard Alston Dance Company where he was also Rehearsal Director (2005- 2007).

Since 2007 Darren has made six works for his own company, Darren Ellis Dance, and two for Richard Alston Dance Company. His solo shows have toured nationally and internationally. Darren was an associate artist at Dance East from 2010 to 2014. Darren has twice been selected as a semi-finalist in the Bloomberg Place prize for dance and has made work for various youth companies and dance students, including Centre for Advanced Training at The Place, Trinity Laban and Dance East. He has also made work for Edge, Shift, Intoto and Map Dance.

Darren became Deputy Principal of Rambert School in 2016, but continues to teach for professional dance companies including Rambert Dance Company, New Adventures, DV8, National Dance Company Wales and Richard Alston Dance Company.
