2022 Commissioned Choreographer Announcement: Cree Barnett Williams

It’s always exciting to welcome back alumni, especially when returning as one of our Commissioned Choreographers, to share their professional experiences with the next generation of Rambert School grads.

Jamaican-Irish, British born, Cree Barnett Williams is a dance artist and model based in Berlin. Cree initially worked as a freelance dancer and teacher in the UK before joining the Johannes Wieland Company at the State Theatre Kassel, Germany, from 2015 to 2019. Cree currently works with choreographers/directors Marina Mascarell (ES/NL), Elisabeth Schilling (DE/LU) and Johannes Wieland (DE/US), as well as making her own work. Cree created the pieces DA’AHLIN’ (2017), SALT. (2018) and ELEFANTIN (2019) for Staatstheater Kassel’s choreographic workshops. ELEFANTIN was further developed for Resolution! Festival 2020 at The Place Theatre, London and later adapted in 2021 as a solo for b12 festival for contemporary dance and performance art in Berlin. Also in 2021, she was also commissioned by Bodies in Action Dance to create a solo, COLLAPSE, which premiered at Studio Spaces in London. Cree has also appeared in Punchdrunk’s ‘The Third Day: Autumn’ (HBO/Sky Arts), ‘Change’ (Philippe Tempelman/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui), Richard Malone’s SS21 film ‘Rehearsal’ (London Fashion Week, Centro Centro Madrid), Altered States Magazine, The Face Magazine and Vogue Italia.

Welcome back, Cree!
