2022 Commissioned Choreographer Announcement: Richard Chappell

Richard Chappell is an internationally renowned choreographer. Since 2013, his ensemble Richard Chappell Dance has been a platform for his choreographic research and critically acclaimed performance work. RCD creates memorable and moving dance at the forefront of theatre, community participation, interdisciplinary collaboration and site responsive performance. Richard is currently an Associate Artist at Exeter Northcott and commissioned artist at Swindon Dance.
RCD has close partnerships with prestigious organisations, including the Royal Opera House, BBC Arts, The Linbury Trust, Studio Wayne McGregor, Dancin’ Oxford, British High Commission, National Arts Council Singapore, Dance in Devon, Pavilion Dance South West, DanceEast and Dance City, amongst others.
As a guest choreographer, Richard has created work with renowned companies, including Stuttgart Ballet, National Dance Company Wales, BalletWorks, English National Ballet, Belfast Ensemble, Transitions Dance Company and Frontier Danceland (Singapore).
Richard has guest lectured for Rambert School, ArtEz Institute of the Arts (Holland), Lasalle College of Arts (Singapore), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), Singapore School of the Arts, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Tring Park School and Iwanson School of Contemporary Dance (Munich).
As an alumnus of the school, Richard is thrilled to be sharing his collaborative practice with the current 3rd year students.
