Conservatoire for Dance & Drama

Rambert School is one of eight affiliates of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama (CDD)

Logo of Conservatoire for Dance and DramaRanked the UK’s No 1 performing arts conservatoire for student satisfaction in the 2015 National Student Survey, students at CDD schools value the immersive experience of conservatoire training and its unparalleled access to the performing arts industries. Each school has an established record of training its students to a professional standard, with excellent employment rates in the fields of dance, drama or circus. Together, we provide a pipeline of expertly-trained performing arts professionals working in the UK’s lucrative creative industries and helping to build the UK’s international reputation.

The Conservatoire is a publicly-funded institution. This means that our UK and EU students are eligible for government loans and grants (Student Finance) as well as financial support provided by the Conservatoire and the individual schools. Although applications are made direct to Rambert School, and not through UCAS, our students are able to obtain government financial support in the same way as students from any other university.

The Conservatoire fosters artistic collaborations between the eight schools and with external organisations. Some of these are long-standing relationships, such as the links between Rambert School and Rambert dance company; Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre; or the annual Design for Dance project, which sees students from Central School of Ballet and Rambert School collaborating with students from Central St Martins. The other internationally renowned centres of training are:

  • Bristol Old Vic Theatre School
  • Central School of Ballet
  • LAMDA
  • National centre for circus arts
  • RADA
